Society Events in 2026

The society organises various annual and occasional events to commemorate the major anniversaries of Stuart and Royalist interest.

KING CHARLES' DAY

Friday 30th January 2026
London ‐ The King's Statue

The Society's traditional service and wreath-laying to mark the death of King Charles I will take place at 11am, at the King's statue in Trafalgar Square when the traditional three wreaths will be laid. Our Chaplain, Father Aidan Harker will officiate at the Service.

Windsor ‐ St George's Chapel

In the evening, members and guests will attend Evensong in memory of King Charles I at St George's Chapel, by kind permission of the Dean. A wreath will be laid on the King's tomb by Lord Aylmer, Chairman of the Council of the Society. Those wishing to attend should assemble at the Castle Gate no later than 5pm for admittance to the Chapel in time for Evensong.

QUEEN MARY'S DAY COMMEMORATION

Tuesady 10th February 2026
London ‐ Westminster Abbey

As the anniversary of the death of Queen Mary on the 8th February falls on a Sunday this year, it is not possible to hold our Commemoration that day. By kind permission of the Dean of Westminster, the Service this will take place on Tuesday 10th February at 2.30pm.

Please assemble inside the West door of the Abbey in good time. Those attending will be conducted to the Beaufort Chapel where the Queen's tomb is situated. A Canon of the Abbey will conduct a short Service of Commemoration and a wreath will be placed on the Queen's tomb.

AGM AND SPRING LECTURE

Annual General Meeting ‐ 5.30pm

The Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at the Caledonian Club, 9 Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DR at 5.30 pm on Monday 30th March.

This is only open to Members of the Society.

Lecture ‐ 7pm

A Lecture will be held at the Caledonian Club, 9 Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DR at 7pm on Monday 30th March 2026. This will be given by Council member David Beattie CMG on the subject of his recently completed History of the Society. This work has been many years in preparation and has involved much detailed and painstaking research.

This event is open to Members and their guests, and members of the public are also welcome to attend.

Dress Code. The Caledonian Club requires that Members and guests dress formally within the Club after 9.30am and a jacket, collared shirt, smart trousers, dress or skirt are required. Ties are optional throughout the Club with the exception of dinner service in the Members' Dining Room where jackets and ties are required.
